BC School Fruit and Veggie Program

Aberdeen Elementary participates in the BC School Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program sponsored by ActNowBC and distributed by Save On Foods / Overwaitea and PriceSmart. As part of this program our school will receive free fruit and vegetables throughout the school year! There will be enough produce delivered to our school to provide a nutritious snack to each and every child within our school community at least once a month. That’s a lot of fruit and vegetables!

The Goals and Objectives of the program are:

• Encourage consumption of more BC fruits and vegetables
• Inform students and their families:

                       o That fruit and vegetables are grown in BC

                       o That fruit and vegetables are important for health benefits

Please note that this is an optional program in which the children are encouraged to try new fruits and vegetables. There is no pressure or obligation in the classroom for your child to sample each item.

The parents and staff at Aberdeen continue to teach kids about the importance of being In Motion, making good food choices and being involved in heart healthy activities. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to continue to provide healthy opportunities to our students.
