Put the "I" in Kind

As part of "Kindness Week", many of our students put the "I" in Kind. Students took pictures in front of the bulletin board and it was a great reminder that we all play a part in spreading kindness in the school and community.

Acts of Kindness - Bulletin Board

Mrs. Spring and Mrs. LeClair put up a bulletin board in our hallway to promote random acts of kindness. Students take a sticky note with a random act of kindness and perform the act to spread joy and happiness in the building. Thank you to all the students who have already taken on this challenge!

Random Acts of Kindness

Mrs. Teeft's class has been focusing on letter writing. To share some of their random acts of kindness, the students had the task of writing a letter to someone outside their classroom. The class delivered the letters to the teachers' mailboxes so that they could be handed out the next day. Thank you for spreading JOY at Aberdeen!

Money Math Games

Who said that learning math can't be fun and engaging? When you walk into Mrs. Teeft's class, all the students are having fun and learning about financial literacy. All the students are working together to make money and create change using some of our money manipulatives at the school. Well done Grade 2s and 3s!

Lunar New Year

In many classes around the school, the students learned more about Lunar New Year to recognize the start of the new year on February 1st.

In Mrs. Teeft's class, the students used paint to write traditional words and used chalk pastels to draw fireworks.

In Mrs. VonDoehren's class, the students coloured dragon masks to symbolize the year that the students were born (the year of the dragon) and learned about all the different animals and some of the strengths of the people born in each year.

Groundhog Day

In Mrs. Mathers' class, the students used groundhog day to learn about shadows. The students brought the flashlight closer and further away from the groundhog to see what happened to the shadow and then they wrote down their scientific discoveries! Well done, Grade 1s!

Why Celebrate Black History Month?

Gaga Ball Pit at Aberdeen

We installed a new Gaga Ball pit at Aberdeen! The students all wanted to play at recess and lunch so we put in a rotation of divisions so that 2 divisions can use the pit each day. At recess and lunch, the pit is full of exercise, cheering, laughter and fun!
